You have to admit that before you became a developer, many of you had huge dreams(including my self) that your game will be one of the top game, you will have thousands or millions of downloads and you will be rich over night!
But after publishing the first game you start to realize that this line of work is no joke and you need to have patience, so you decided to wait a few weeks to get good number of downloads. But after a while like 1 or 2 months, you see that you are not getting any real results. So many of the good developers eventually lose hope before even moving on to the next project.

If it was like 2009 or 2010 then it would have not been so hard to get downloads. These days you practically have to like beg for a single download. If you do not want to or have the money to spend on advertising for your game then it will be a great challenge for you to get good results for your game.
